Decision Drama
Nov 03, 2020Do you have decision making drama?
One way to tell is in how you make decisions.⠀
Maybe you:
- Overthink your decisions.
- Avoid making decisions.
- Delegate your decisions.
- Second guess your decisions on repeat.⠀
Do any of these sound familiar?⠀
The good news is that this is both completely normal and completely fixable. ⠀
Trouble making decisions often stems from the fear of making the wrong one. ⠀
Some smart person who remains anonymous said,
“Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad decisions.”
This is true AND it means that if you are making decisions from your higher brain, the part that isn't operating from fear, you can't actually make a wrong decision. You can make decisions that have undesired outcomes but they, nor you, are actually wrong.
When we make decisions that are aligned with what we want for ourselves and our futures, not a fear of not having it, the result will give us what we need.
It will either achieve the desired result or it will illuminate a better path to it.
On the other hand, not making a decision gives no information. Just more of what is current. Just more of a desire for different with no actual difference. This is where avoidance and spinning in indecision becomes prominent. It is normally compounded with some sort of self judgement or blame.
Equally as problematic, is making decisions from fear-brain. This is when you either delegate your decisions to someone else so that you are not responsible for the outcome. OR, worse, you make a decision that has no relation to your desired outcome. Maybe it is the “safe choice”.
Caroline Myss offers
“Always go with the choice that scares you the most because that’s the one that is going to help you grow.”
I couldn’t agree more. There is discomfort in the deciding and the not deciding. But, in the deciding, there is a chance for growth and reward and magic. In the not, there is a chance things stay the same... and that is the best case scenario.
Don’t give up the power and opportunity to create and achieve magic. Don’t second guess yourself along the way.
Make a decision and commit. Have your own back and know, no matter what the outcome, you’ve created a new knowing, a new experience and a deeper understanding of your own power and self trust.
And always remember....
“Indecision is a decision.” Anonymous
