You’re Not Stuck. You’re Skilled.
May 01, 2025
What if the thing you think is holding you back... is actually a skill you haven’t fully claimed yet?
I had a realization recently that stopped me in my tracks.
I was reflecting on some old habits—complicating things, overthinking, making mountains out of molehills—and at first, I fell into the familiar loop:
"Why do I do this? Why can’t I just move forward?"
But then a quieter, more curious thought emerged:
What if this isn’t a flaw?
What if this is a skill I’m misapplying?
After all, it is a skill to see layers of complexity.
It is a skill to anticipate obstacles and possibilities.
It is a skill to notice the deeper threads others might miss.
When we recognize that even our "flaws" are simply skills being wielded unconsciously—or without intentional direction—everything changes.
Suddenly, you’re not stuck.
You’re not broken.
You’re not bad at this.
You’re skilled.
You just have the power now to choose:
-
To wield the skill with intention.
-
To adapt the skill to serve your next level.
-
Or to release it altogether when it no longer fits.
This is where real momentum begins—not by "fixing yourself," but by partnering with yourself.
Client Story: Turning Procrastination into Power
One of my clients used to beat herself up for always postponing her writing.
Every time she had a professional article due for review, she would push it off until the last 6–10 hours before the deadline.
She saw this as proof she was a "procrastinator"—lazy, undisciplined, incapable.
But when we looked at it together, something different emerged.
Not only was she consistently turning out quality work, but she was finishing full, complex pieces under pressure—in a single work sprint.
That’s not a flaw. That’s an incredible skill.
When she could see that she was choosing to compress her work into those final hours—and that she had a proven ability to deliver under that pressure—ownership and pride replaced shame.
From there, everything shifted.
She realized:
-
"I’m really good at delivering in 6–10 hours."
-
"What if I divided that into two-hour blocks over five days instead?"
-
"What if I gave myself even more freedom by starting earlier—but using the same focus and momentum I trust myself to access?"
Ownership of her skill became a buoy instead of a weight.
And that’s the power of reframing what you think is wrong with you as what’s actually right and available in you.
Reflection Question:
What if my biggest struggle is actually an untapped skill?
How could I use it differently starting today?
(Grab your journal, voice note app, or take five minutes after you read this—you might be surprised what surfaces.)
The truth is, self-trust isn’t about eliminating doubt, fear, or missteps.
It’s about changing the relationship you have with your own humanity—and learning how to lead yourself through it, with clarity and compassion.
That’s the real advantage.
That’s how your next evolution begins.
If you’re ready to tap into your full potential with strategic self-trust, I invite you to apply for The Self Trust Executive—because your next level isn’t built by fixing what’s wrong with you.
